Cobrix 5 - Inline analysis for all soft drinks, beers and other beverages
November 18, 2011The new inline Cobrix 5 beverage analyser continuously measures °Brix, % Diet, carbon dioxide, alcohol, sugar inversion, original extract and additional parameters inline, directly in the production line. The inline version of Cobrix 5 is therefore suitable for the hygienic production of all beer types, wine, juices, RTD’s (alcopops) and soft drinks, including soft drinks with sugar inversion. It is constructed according to EHEDG guidelines and is cleaned by standard CIP routines.

Continuous measurement of product parameters with Cobrix 5 ensures the product quality is always right on target. If the measured values are outside preselected quality limits this immediately activates alarms. The result: less out-of-spec product and significant savings in syrup and CO2. For completely traceable line performance and product quality, Cobrix 5 in combination with the Davis 5 software automatically stores all quality-related data, including Cpk and Cp values.

Sigrist - Focus - Economical Automation
May 25, 2011PhaseGuard and TurbiGuard are the latest innovative products released by SIGRIST-PHOTOMETER. Depending upon selection, these products can be either used for interface detection based on turbidity or colour, or for monitoring of medium to high turbidity levels in various process steps. The sealless design with sapphire windows is well-proven and has already been incorporated into the turbidity meter TurBiScat. Regular replacement of seals is now a thing of the past. Three models of the PhaseGuard cover all possible applications: Interface detection and switching based on turbidity (model T), on colour (model C) or high turbidity, like for example beer/yeast (model HT). Selecting the right model is easy due to fixed path-lengths. The PhaseGuard is factory adjusted with an optimized universal measuring range based on absorption percentage. A single version of the TurbiGuard can be widely used for almost all applications requiring monitoring medium to high turbidity levels. The sensor is factory calibrated with a true, linearized Formazine calibration. Once installed it is only recommended to perform an occasional zero check. For simple applications and control the instrument configuration and communication can be easily done by using a serial interface in combination with the existing outputs. For a more comfortable installation and system integration the optional control unit SICON with state-of-the-art touch screen technology and colour display can be connected.

Revolutionary: reliable viscosity determination directly in the production line. Anton Paar launches an inline viscometer which monitors the viscosity of process liquids round-the-clock.
July 15, 2011L-Vis 510 is an inline viscometer from Anton Paar which can measure the viscosity of liquids in the pipework or tank. It continuously displays the viscosity at the process temperature and reference temperature, allowing 24-hour monitoring of suspensions, lubricants, starch adhesives and many more process liquids. Data exported to a controller can be used for process control to keep the production process in a defined viscosity range, ensuring consistent product quality and reducing reject product. Anton Paar is the established technological leader in the field of rheometry and viscometry. Using Anton Paars knowhow, viscosity results from L-Vis 510 can be compared with viscosity results from the laboratory, giving insight into production processes. Additional tests can be carried out, i.e. flow curves and temperature ramps with an MCR rheometer, or determination of the Viscosity Index, dynamic viscosity and kinematic viscosity with an SVM 3000 or AMVn viscometer. Results from these tests allow better understanding of material properties and behavior. The end result: optimized production supported by inline monitoring by L-Vis 510. As L-Vis 510 is installed directly in the pipe or stirring tank, no bypass is required. The measuring principle is new, based on the measurement of dynamic fluid pressure, which is proportional to a fluid’s viscosity. Viscosity is covered in the range from 1 to 50,000 mPa.s. Pressure or flow rate fluctuations do not affect L-Vis 510. The new measuring principle delivers stable results, even under adverse flow conditions.L-Vis 510 also delivers accurate results when measuring the viscosity of suspensions,” reports Martin Joseph-Strasser, product manager for L-Vis 510 at Anton Paar GmbH. “This makes reliable process control a reality for liquids which are difficult or impossible to measure with other types of process viscometer.

B-R Controls appointed as distributor of Neo Monitors TDLAS (Tuneable Laser Diode) gas analysers Neo-Monitors
March 26, 2010B-R Controls is proud to have been appointed as distributor of Neo Monitors for Australia. Neo Monitors is the Norwegian manufacturer of the LaserGas range of gas and dust monitors based on tuneable diode laser (TDLAS) technology. First introduced in 1995, Neo Monitors LaserGas analysers utilise a technique referred to as "single line spectroscopy", which eliminates cross interference from other gases and yields extremely low detection limits, often to ppb level. The TDLAS instruments are the preferred choice for a broad range of applications within process and emission control. Gas concentrations can be measured in stacks, ducts and reactors, extractive measurements and across open paths. Today Neo Monitors are the largest commercial supplier of TDLAS gas monitors, with instruments installed in more than 45 countries.

New online density meter for terminals
March 31, 2008Anton Paar Process density meters are ideal for highly accurate online metering of petroleum products. With the L-Dens 427F I a completely new generation of online density transducers is presented for the first time at the STOCEXPO in Rotterdam.
L-Dens 427F I is compact and small - and fits into each metering skid. Product density and mass can thus be controlled and recorded continuously with a small investment. The new density transducer can be refitted to existing volume metering installations to obtain mass flow. The direct communication with flow computers is established by using common frequency interfaces. With its excellent measuring accuracy L-Dens 427F I is the product of choice when density is needed for fiscal metering applications. ATEX rating is provided.
Anton Paar is a leading manufacturer of online density meters and sound velocity meters specialized products for the terminal and distribution market.
Anton Paar process density meters are also used in the following applications:
- Refineries: crude oil, intermediate and end products
- Concentration of chemicals: HCl, H2SO4, NaOH, etc.
- Blending applications
- Fiscal metering / custody transfer
- Interface recognition, product identification
- Allocation metering

Introducing the new Oxytec-TR
October 28, 2008The Oxytec-TR from Centec is the latest development in the measurement of dissolved oxygen in both liquids and gasses. The system utilises an optical principal of measurement that avoids the use of membranes, electrolyte and avoids frequent maintenance and calibration.
The measurement principle is based on the effect of dynamic luminescence quenching by molecular oxygen. Indicator molecules in the beverage are excited by absorbing a blue/green light. In a depleted oxygen medium, the indicator molecule returns to its original state and emits red light. Both the strength of the emitted light and the time taken for this to occur is a property of the indicator molecule. The time taken for this to occur is known as the luminescent decay time (t0).
The Centec Oxytec-TR has a number of advantages over conventional DO systems.
- Specifically designed for the acid environment of beverages and CIP liquids
- No membrane or electrolyte maintenance
- High repeatability (1%), no drift
- Low minimum detection level: 1 ppb
- Wide range: 1 ppb – 50 ppm
- Fast response time (T90=25 sec)
- Easy installation using Varivent in-line access fitting.
- Single unit / housing, no evaluation unit required
- Provides a local display right at the point of measurement

Anton Paar releases new concentration monitor insensitive to scaling and coating
February 15, 2009Anton Paar have released the new SPRn 4115 (L) 2S sound velocity monitor. The SPRn 4115 (L) 2S is especially designed for accurate concentration determination in liquids where scaling and coating can occur. The measurement method compensates for a coating build-up and provides highest accuracy. The SPRn 4115 (L) 2S has 2 sound paths. The sound velocity is calculated from the difference in the propagation times. The temperature is also measured and both temperature and sound velocity are transmitted to the mPDS evaluation unit. The evaluation unit uses the temperature and sound velocity values to calculate the concentration and derived properties.
