Their special "hollow fibre membrane" technology (patented) is used world wide for water deaeration. Oxytec-TR - inline optical dissolved oxygen monitor
The Oxytec-TR from Centec is the latest development in the measurement of dissolved oxygen in both liquids and gasses. The system utilizes an Optical principal of measurement that avoids the use of membranes, electrolyte and avoids frequent maintenance and calibration.
The measurement principle is based on the effect of dynamic luminescence quenching by molecular oxygen. In this method, an indicator molecule (substance that fluoresces) is excited by absorbing a blue/green light. In a depleted oxygen medium, the indicator molecule returns to its original state and emits red light. Both the strength of the emitted light and the time taken for this to occur is a property of the indicator molecule. The time taken for this to occur is known as the luminescent decay time (t0).
When oxygen is present, it acts as a quencher and as such a relationship exists between the luminescent lifetime and oxygen concentration. The Oxytec-TR makes use of this relationship and uses the measurement of the decay time (t) as the measure of oxygen concentration.
The benefit of this technique is that the measurement is independent of the initial blue/green light intensity, the efficiency of the detector or the concentration of the indicator molecule in the photosensitive layer of the sensor. As such, the sensor signal is not susceptible to drift and the accuracy is maintained over a long period.
The Oxytec-TR sensor is available for continuous in-line measurement and is mounted to the process via Varivent In-line access fitting. The sensor is fully CIP compatible and the only maintenance requirement is the replacement of the optical window once a year.
As the Oxytec-TR is factory calibrated it requires no on site calibration upon installation, saving time and money.
