On-line Sulpur Recovery Monitoring and Analysis

The Applied Analytics on-line UV/VIS/IR analysers (OMA-300 and TLG-837) can be used at all stages of the sulphur recovery process, as shown in this diagram, listed here:

The OMA-300 is a diode-array fiber-optics process spectrophotometer, continuously measuring the absorbance spectra of the sample. It is constructed of a light source, a dispersion device to select a particular wavelength, a sample area, and a detector. The OMA uses a tungsten, xenon or deuterium light source (depending on application), a holographic grating to disperse the light according to its wavelength, a fiber optics probe to transfer the light to and from the sample and a diode array detector which converts the light intensity into electrical signal. A full spectrum is continuously measured and analyzed, via a multi wavelength method, to give the composition of the stream.

The TLG-837 uses solid state diode array spectrophotometer for detection, measuring complete spectrum from 190nm to 800nm with 1nm resolution. It can readily be used for absorbance measurements of up to 2AU ± 0.002AU. Allowing for a very wide concentration dynamic range and accurate measurements. The light source is a pulsed xenon with extremely long life time or a very low noise deuterium source. The TLG-837 uses fiber optics to transmit light to and from the detector allowing the electronics to be physically separated from the probe.
